OUR STORY: About
Our Story...

We are a group of women who are members of CoDA (Codependents Anonymous) and/or ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics). We volunteer to lead online meetings. Our journey began with an in-person CoDA meeting in 2016, and we transitioned to online meetings in 2020.

Our group operates much like any other meeting, but we utilize this website to communicate with our members and visitors and to ensure that meeting information is easily accessible and prominently displayed on our homepage. We serve as an online community center for these meetings; as women create new women-only twelve-step groups, we will add them to our site.

We hold Group Conscience meetings regularly and share updates on the homepage. Additionally, we maintain a blog featuring articles written by members to promote sharing and connection within our community.

Each meeting is led by volunteers who have signed up. We do not govern ourselves; instead, we use the 12 Traditions to guide our meetings.

From Our Founder

After my first year attending CoDA meetings, I realized that I wanted to find a women-only group so I could feel safer in meetings, especially when sharing. I was shocked to find none available in the Houston area (2013). I spoke with several women in our group, and they agreed that a women-only group would be helpful. CoDA WEW was founded in 2014. Thanks to CODA, my life is healthier and happier than ever. I experience the "promises"  daily. I am grateful to see so many women, including my precious sponsees, find healthy lives and relationships for the first time. Another aspect I love about CoDA is that there is only one requirement for membership: the desire to have healthy relationships with yourself and others. Who doesn't want that?

We have added Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families (ACA); it is trauma-informed and focuses on our Inner Child and healing deep wounds from our childhood.

In ACA, I found comfort and acceptance unlike any I have found in any other group I have been part of. My inner child work was challenging and made worse by my trauma. My fellow travelers helped me to find peace and reconcile with my childhood. I started the ACA group because it has profoundly helped my recovery journey and complements my CODA recovery. I hope you review the ACA program as you consider what is best for your healing journey.

Everyone's path to self-discovery and learning to love ourselves is as unique as we are. Our goal is to honor WHERE you are today and WHERE you want to be. These programs helped me find a home for my true self, making me happier and healthier. I remain in the programs because recovery is not a linear process, not a goal to attain. Recovery is a process that takes attention and care. Recovery has made my life what it is today and maintains my serenity.

I am dedicated to helping other women find their serenity through this online meeting platform, and I hope to reach as many women as possible. If you are still struggling and working on your recovery, I wish you compassion and grace. If you are already a member, thank you for being part of this wonderful community. Your presence in the meetings, your service, and especially your willingness to share your experiences, strength, and hope with others are greatly appreciated. and hope with others is greatly appreciated.

With Gratitude and Love,

Kimberly Sprintz
